Troubleshooting The HDMI Advantage Inside an HDMI Cable Coaxial Cable

HDMI. which is backwards compatible with earlier versions of the HDMI specifications, significantly increases bandwidth up to 18Gbps and adds key enhancements to support continuing market requirements for enhancing the consumer video and audio experience. New functionality includes:

1. 4K@50/60, (2160p), which is 4 times the clarity of 1080p/60 video resolution

2. Up to 32 audio channels for a multi-dimensional immersive audio experience Toslink Cable Displayport FAQ DVI FAQ

3. Up to 1536kHz audio sample frequency for the highest audio fidelity

4. Simultaneous delivery of dual video streams to multiple users on the same screen

5. Simultaneous delivery of multi-stream audio to multiple users (up to 4)

6. Support for the wide angle theatrical 21:9 video aspect ratio

7. Dynamic synchronization of video and audio streams

8.CEC extensions provides expanded command and control of consumer electronics devices through a single control point.

HDMI does not define new cables or new connectors. Current High Speed cables (Category 2 cables) are capable of carrying the increased bandwidth.

What is HDMI?

HDMI .which is backwards compatible with earlier versions of the HDMI specification, significantly increases bandwidth up to 18Gbps and adds key enhancements to support market requirements for enhancing the consumer video and audio experience.

What's new in HDMI ?

HDMI significantly increases bandwidth to 18Gbps and includes the following advanced features:

1. Resolutions up to 4K@50/60 (2160p), which is 4 times the clarity of 1080p/60 video resolution, for the ultimate video experience

2. Up to 1536kHz audio sample frequency for the highest audio fidelity

5. Support for the wide angle theatrical 21:9 video aspect ratio

6. Dynamic synchronization of video and audio streams

7. CEC extensions provide more expanded command and control of consumer electronics devices through a single control point

8. Up to 32 audio channels for a multi-dimensional immersive audio experience

Does HDMI replace HDMI ?

No. HDMI is built on top of HDM11 .x and any device that wants to implement HDMI must first implement HDMI as a baseline requirement.

What is the testing policy for HDMI products?

An Adopter's first product in a designated product category that implements any function of the HDMI specification needs to be submitted to an ATC for testing and pass all applicable and available HDMI compliance tests before shipment.

An Adopters subsequent product in a designated product category that implements any additional function of the HDMI specification should be submitted to an ATC for testing and pass all applicable and available HDMI compliance tests before shipment.

Can existing HDMI cables support the higher bandwidths of HDMI Specification?

Yes, existing High Speed HDMI Cables (wire only) will support the new higher bandwidths (up to 18Gbps).

HDMI specification defined a new, more efficient signaling method, for speeds above limits (10.2Gbps), to allow higher bandwidths (up to 18Gbps) over existing High Speed HDMI Wire Cables.

Does HDMI support BT.2020 (rec.2020) colorimetry?

Yes. HDMI includes support for BT.2020 Colorimetry with 10 or more bits of color depth.

Video Formats defined in BT.2020 and supported by HDMI specification:

-2160p. 10/12 bits, 24/25/30HZ, RGB/4:2:2/4:4:4 -2160p, 10/12 bits, 50/60HZ, 4:2:0/4:2:2

Is HDMI backwards compatible with HDMI?

Yes, all HDMI versions are fully backward compatible with all previous versions.

Does HDMI require new connectors?

No.HDMIusestheexistingconnectors.

Does HDMI require new cables?

No, HDMI features will work with existing HDMI cables. Higher bandwidth features, Omega Constellation replica watches such as 4K@50/60 (2160p)video formats, will require existing High Speed HDMI cables (Category 2 cables).

Can my existing HDMI devices be upgraded with HDMI features?

Currently, there are no provisions for doing such an upgrade. Because of the new enhanced feature set, any such conversion would require hardware and/or firmware upgrades. If there are such conversions, it would come from the manufacturer. Please check with them directly.

When will ATCs start to provide testing services?

Each individual ATC will decide on when to offer HDMI testing services. Please contact your local ATC for more information.

What are the testing requirements for HDMI?

All HDMI features must be compliance tested with the HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) and all HDMI devices must also be compliant with the HDMI CTS 1.4b.

When will the HDMI Compliance Test Specification be available?

The HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) is expected to be released before the end of 2013.
